The Vortex Cylinder Stove, takes down smaller, weighs less, and it puts out more heat than stoves twice its size. While wood burning stoves are not what some would call "ultra light", this one is about as light as they get. While not as bomb proof as our Vortex box stove, the titanium body section, cylindrical shape, and damper, make this stove burn very efficiently. The Vortex Cylinder Stove is very basic. Its been stripped down to pure light weight function, while still retaining big performance. You get the same roll up pipe that is on our box stoves, but in a smaller diameter (2-3/8" vs 3"), along with the same great heat transfer properties of titanium . How do you cook on a round top stove? No problem. The 2 titanium support rods across the top of the stove will support over 5 lbs. The lack of full contact means it's not as efficient for cooking as a flat top stove, but it still works.

Titanium pipes: We have been using titanium pipes on our stoves since 2006. These pipes have several advantages over the stainless steel pipes (cost not being one of them). The first is of course weight. The titanium pipes are 30% lighter than their stainless counter parts. While being 30% lighter, these pipes are also stronger. The titanium pipes are 20% thicker than the stainless pipes. So not only are they lighter, stronger, and last a life time, the titanium pipes are also more efficient. Titanium transfers heat far better than stainless, so by using the titanium pipe, you get more heat radiated into your tent, rather than lost up the pipe.
